Anonymous - more effective than I expected.Sanctions including SWIFT, sport, and just about everything else.Arms and possibly foreign fighters flowing into Ukraine.I think the Russians need a deal, and they know they need a deal:. No need for Zelenskyy himself to go, and killing him will end any chance of a quick deal, it will make the Ukrainians more motivated and angry. The US exit from Afghanistan was an example of that, and I'm sure the US put a lot of time and money into trying to build good relations with the local populace, Occupation also doesn't work, I'm not aware of an instance of a occupying force winning the hearts and minds of the local populace. The bad news for the Russians is, even if they hit their targets, and installed puppets, the fight would continue, and the puppets would be despised by the local populace. They get into cities but so far it doesn't look like they are hitting their targets, or getting back out. That may be why we sometimes see small bands of special forces soldiers rushing into cities whenever they can. I think the Russians believe their propaganda and though simply killing the leaders in each city and replacing them with Russian puppets would do the job. Often a Democracy can look very divided from the outside, but when attacked it nearly always pulls together in a very strong unified and passionate manner, It may be the best system of government for fighting defensive wars. One mistake Russia might have made is not understanding Democracy. That was a German AT weapon from WW II that was very effective as well as easy to carry. I found out yesterday the Dutch still make Panzerfausts. They have a numerical advantage in tanks, but their awful tactics are just making them juicy targets with no benefit to their side.Īnd now everybody is giving Ukraine AT weapons. With this war the Russians have managed to make armor a liability rather than an asset. The Germans integrated infantry units into panzer divisions for support purposes.Īny tank operating without direct infantry support, especially in an urban area is going to get knocked out in short order. The rule of armor learned in the early days of WW II is never operate armor in a hostile environment without lots of infantry support. It's hard to believe the Russians are that bad at protecting their armor. I also saw a video yesterday of just some guy about 30 ft from a T-90 kill it with an NLAW. They come across as amateur night on poverty row. This is Russia's equivalent of the SAS, Seals, or US Army Rangers. There was another video taken out a window of the guys in the unit standing around out in the open like they had no clue what to do next. That first video of the Tigrs were the vehicles from a special forces unit that was sent into Karkhiv and had all their vehicles knocked out. Just remember though this is NOT the Russian people as a whole, just the megalomaniac at the top and his followers. If you don’t vote in Russia then your vote goes to the party with the most votes! Strangely Putin is always the one with most votes, I wonder why. Since then the price of alcohol & tobacco is kept as low as possible to ”control to a degree” the population by apathy. The drunken fool before him just decided he would hand over the presidency. This is a man who wasn’t actually voted in at all in the first term. It wasn’t that long ago when the constitution in Russia stipulated 2 terms of Presidency max, like the US….so he changed it and is now President for Life. They are being told only military targets are losing life, no civilian!Īlso bear in mind anyone who opposes Putin get’s disappeared and he changes the system to suit himself. The problem within Russia is the stae controls all media, according to that (which is the only source of info to the older generation) Russia is entering Ukraine as a peacekeeping mission due to Ukraine bombing Donetsk & Luhansk. Her mother was born in the 60’s and thinks Putin is wonderful, my wife think’s he’s a complete d**khead who needs to be put down. This is very true, my wife is Russian, her family still live there.
